In these excerpts from a letter, Winnicott’s writes to Riviere regarding comments by Riviere and Heimann about a candidate of his who went to Riviere for supervision. He disputes the suggestion that he avoids the negative maternal transference. His opinion of the candidate’s ability is very high, in comparison to Riviere’s.
