This chapter considers the impact of childhood mental health problems on young adult mental health. Using illustrative case studies, this chapter addresses issues related to translational research on the developmental trajectories of childhood mental health problems, such as how to separate the genetic and environmental contributions to disorders, and to what extent do normative developmental events contribute to psychopathological trajectories.
