Chapter 5 outlines the first session of the therapy program. This session includes psychoeducation for the patient about tic disorders (diagnostic criteria, phenomenology, social difficulties and comorbidity, causes, neurological basis, and prevalence), and the creation of a tic symptom hierarchy, which will be used throughout the program to track tic severity. The concept of function-based intervention and behavioral reward programs are also introduced to the patient.
