This chapter deals with aspects of the clinicalsituation which may be relevant to investigators and it addresses four topics: the importance of surrounding clinical features in determining whetheror not an abnormal belief is delusional; consideration of the diagnostic approach to delusional disorder in theclinical setting; difficulties in studying delusions because of rapid treatment interventions; and a proposal that delusional disorder (formerly paranoia) be utilized for itssuitability in studies on delusions.
