This chapter focuses on the treatment of anxiety disorders inchildren. It begins with a brief summary of the prevalence, developmental precursors,and consequences of anxiety disorders in children. This is followed by apresentation of evidence-based or empirically supported interventions for anxietydisorders in children. Specifically, a conceptualization for interventions for anxietydisorders in children is presented. Next it describes the “basic” intervention andnote studies that provide evidence of efficacy. The final part of the chapter discussesissues involved in integrating and adapting interventions in non-research-basedsettings.
