The final chapter is psychotherapy research in perspective. It provides an overall evaluation of progress and different perspectives on how the current status of theory, research, and practice might be viewed. Key issues are discussed in relation to where we are and where we ought to go in relation to the knowledge base. The chapter emphasizes the need to expand our views of social, emotional, and behavioral problems and the range of legitimate interventions that might improve adjustment and well-being.
