Chapter 7 outlines the fifth session of the treatment program. Strategies for further cognitive restructuring are presented, such as methods to guide the patient to generate alterntive interpretations or responses to faulty cognitions, evaluating consequences and enhancing coping mechanisms. A guide to troubleshooting common cognitive errors including Socratic questioning, use of an objective standard, role-play behavioral experiment, and home-practice behavioral experiment, is also provided.
