Chapter 3 aims to provide psychoeducation about cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing, using the CES-D measure of depression severity, methods of monitoring adherence and medical changes. Information on depression is also provided, including components of depression (behavioural, cognitive, physiological), the CBT model of depression, cycle of depression, focus of treatment, motivation for alleviating depression. The format of the treatment program is also outlined.
