Chapter 1 presents a great deal of information on the nature of social anxiety, the cognitive-behavioral techniques used to treat it, how to best implement these techniques, and how to deal with the problems that arise during treatment. This therapist guide was written with the assumption that the reader is familiar with the contents of the patient workbook, and it is recommended reading for users of this guide. It also covers treatment modality, how this guide will allow new therapists and therapists from different theoretical orientations and professional disciplines to provide treatment, and concomitant medications.
