Sleep problems are highly prevalent among persons with ASD. This chapter describes the nature of the more common sleep problems experienced by persons with ASD and their impact on the individual and family. Important issues surrounding the proper assessment techniques are outlined followed by a description of evidence-based interventions. Finally, recommendations are presented for successfully implementing an intervention plan including how to best fit the plan to the person with the sleep problem as well as addressing the needs of family members.
