This introductory chapter contains information about how to diagnose attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents, how this treatment program was developed, and the studies that were conducted using this program with adults and adolescents with ADHD. Information is provided regarding cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for ADHD and how it differs from other types of therapy. Also discussed is the CBT Model of ADHD, and the chapter outlines the different modules of the treatment program. The introduction concludes with a discussion of how to involve parents in the treatment and how to structure the treatment sessions.
