The Introduction to Part I of Human Nature. Winnicott introduces Part I as a look at human nature through the study of the child, using a developmental approach. He chooses to start at the age of four, and work backwards to the beginnings of the individual. He offers a psychoanalytic approach to paediatrics, in particular the emotional health of the child.
