Dear Dr.Van der Heide,

Thank you for your letter of 20th March. I am taking advantage of your offer to ask you to book accommodation for my wife and myself for the period October 1st to October 5th (four nights).

Would you let me know one more detail; we shall be travelling from Los Angeles to San Francisco on 5th October; would it be good to book this in advance in this country or shall we wait? Is this a journey that ought to be made by air or by rail? It is so difficult for us to judge distances.

Yours sincerely,

D W Winnicott
