Chapter 4 considers the effects of psychotherapy: current status of the evidence, and examines the methods of evaluating the effects of psychotherapy and the conclusions reached from contemporary reviews. Essentially, this is a review of literature reviews. This chapter also covers limitations of the various reviews and their implications for what can be said about the effectiveness of treatment.
