This chapter presents a variety of therapeutic episodes, illustrating key failure and growth experiences, in which the author acted as therapist or patient. These episodes delineate the major personal and professional strands that make up the author’s psychotherapeutic self. It presents their integration into the coherent and cohesive model of psychotherapeutic practice referred to as problem-centered therapy. It concludes with reflections on the normality as well as the extraordinary nature of therapists in psychotherapy.
