Chapter 5 focuses on cognitive therapy techniques aimed at changing negative thoughts. The client is encouraged to become educated about the feared object or situation, as well as their own reactions to the feared object. The common phobic thinking distortions of overestimation and catastrophic thinking are outlined, as well as strategies for challenging these thoughts.
