Chapter 4 outlines the first session of the treatment program for post-MVA PTSD. The results of the pretreatment assessments are reviewed, and the client is introduced to relaxation training exercises that will be used throughout the treatment program. Clients are encouraged to expose themselves regularly to memories of the motor vehicle accident (MVA) and to write a detailed description of exactly what happened at the time of the accident.
