Chapter 1 presents an overview of this cognitive-behavioral stress management (CBSM) program for individuals living with HIV, and discusses factors such as attendance, confidentiality, session structure, and the components of stress management techniques that will be used during the therapy sessions (awareness, appraisals, coping, resources). Relaxation training is also introduced.
