Chapter 6 provides an overview of the evidence. Key areas that are reviewed include research on the effects of treatment; child, parent, family, and treatment factors that contribute to therapeutic change; and the mechanisms that are likely to be responsible for therapeutic change. Supplementary procedures occasionally used with PMT and their effects are noted. This chapter discusses the limitations of current research and what is not known that is important to know.
