This chapter details a thorough, stand-alone patient workbook that can be used as a curriculum for individual or group therapy, or can be copied and provided to patients to work though on their own. The manual includes sections on (i) understanding generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and worry, (ii) skills to manage physical arousal, such as controlled breathing, exercise, and relaxation, (iii) skills to manage negative and worrisome thoughts and beliefs about worry, (iv) problem-solving skills, (v) skills to manage avoidance and other unhelpful behaviors associated with GAD, and lastly (vi) skills to manage setbacks and relapses. The patient manual contains blank record forms for patients to reproduce and complete as needed, and answers to commonly asked questions.
