This chapter encourages the participant to expand the focus from taking control of seizures to learning about how to be well in body, emotion, and spirit. It introduces the concept of high-level wellness: that a person with seizures can be healthy and fulfilled. The goal is to minimize seizures while reaching a personal level of optimal wellness. The chapter details specific areas involved in wellness, including reduction of tension, good nutrition, adequate sleep, physical fitness, avoidance of harmful substances, sexuality, coping with negative emotions, environmental awareness, and meaning in life. It encourages strategies for change while setting realistic goals.
