This chapter considers two main analytic techniques, interpretation and relating. There is some controversy regarding which provides the main therapeutic effect. The possibility is raised that they actually are both at work in varying degrees in the analytic process. There is a discussion of the issue of working though, which is in a therapeutic effect designed to eventuate.
